About me

I live in the north of England in an area renowned for its natural beauty, and home to rare species of orchids and butterflies. I live in a rambling Edwardian house with my husband and two cats, in a village which is full of interesting history and features in the Domesday book. The house I can see from my window as I type was built as a school in 1595.

I am an avid reader, and also a writer of historical fiction. My debut novel, The Lady's Slipper was shortlisted for the Impress Prize. My second novel, The Gilded Lily, is featured on the rolling slideshow. A third, A Divided Inheritance is currently in production, all published by Macmillan, and I'm writing (or should I say wrestling with) the fourth. The US versions of the covers can be seen below, published by St Martin's Press.
