So sorry, I just realize I didn't even answer the question you wanted to know! A favorite historical fiction which features ordinary people? There are a few, but most recently I can think of The Baker's Daughter by Sarah McCoy...very good!

Thanks!

I love all of Kate Morton's books, but I especially enjoyed The Forgotten Garden. Such wonderful atmospheric writing and such interesting characters! I love the juxtaposition of present day and the past as well.

No need to enter me as I own this one already (and loved it!) but I can't resist a recommendation question! :) I adored Sigrid Undset's Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy -- Kristin is an amazing heroine -- I just adore her -- and I find Undset's storytelling to be marvelous.

It's so hard to pick a favorite, but I did read The Sisters Brothers fairly recently and really enjoyed it. They might not have been "ordinary" people but they certainly weren't royalty! Thanks for the chance to win! Enjoy the hop!

I recently read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See which is set in historic China and centers around the daughter of a farmer. It was interesting to read about the rural life. Thanks for the giveaway!

Probably my favorite historical fiction novel that I have read where the main characters are normal, not royal is "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. So well written, the characters are so deep.

Thanks so much for offering this!

I haven't actually read historical fiction concerning ordinary people...I usually read books about U.S. presidents and Egyptian queens.

I can't remember one. I think all of the books I've read are with royalty people. It's time to read about ordinary people! :)

I loved The Tea Rose trilogy. While there are a few cameos by famous figures, the real store is about normal people.

Some of the best royalty-free historical novels I can think of are Kate Morton's books. The Forgotten Garden is by far my favorite but each was compelling and mysterious and I had trouble putting any of them down

Thanks for the giveaway!
